‘Emilia’

I created the ‘Emilia’ sculpture in 2011 in Bath stone as a commission for a very good friend of mine. I worked on the carving out of doors, as my studio at the time was a gazebo in my garden. The sculpture took nearly three weeks to complete. However, I really enjoyed the process, despite being partially exposed to sun, rain, and high winds! In my work here you can probably detect the influences of sculptors Eric Gill and Modigliani, but I’m OK with that.

Portland Stone, height 64cm

The influences of Modigliani and the Easter Island figures are evident here, blending nicely with some of my own ideas.
